Twinning
Overton-on-Dee is twinned with La Murette, a small village set in the heart of the Isere region of France.

Welcome to OVERTON TWINNING ASSOCIATION.
The two words 'twinning association' throw up thoughts of middle-aged, anorak wearing members of a group, traipsing through the streets of a foreign country armed with only a phrase book and a fist full of euros. Most of us fall into one of these categories.
The Welsh/French exchange between Overton and La Murette takes place in the first week of August each year. In 2011 Overton visits La Murette.
Membership of the Overton Twinning Association is open to all those who live within the area administered by the Community Council or those with children at St. Mary’s School, Overton.
The La Murette and Overton Twinning Association 2011 AGM will be held in the Parish Room on Wednesday April 6th at 7.30pm. Everyone is very welcome
Planned Visit to La Murette in 2011
May we wish all friends new and old a Happy New Year.
Whilst most of us are still re-living the last few weeks of Christmas and New Year wondering where the time went, for us Francophiles it is time to be looking ahead towards our summer hols.
In 2011 it is the turn of Overton to visit La Murette.
The visit usually happens during the first week of August; we aim to book tickets en masse late January /early Feb. The last time we went to La Murrette, in February 2009, we flew to Geneva where we were collected by mini buses driven by some of our French hosts. We were then taken on to the village to start our very delightful week of sun, sightseeing, shopping and fantastic banquets.
If anyone is interested in joining us this year, you pay for the cost of your flight and the week is then catered for and paid for by the hosting village. Just because you have been hosted you are not expected to have to host the following year. We fund raise for the 18 months afterwards and before the French return, which enables Overton to provide an equally delightful week.
